Leaving Manhattan is one of the hardest things I have had to do.  If you have ever lived there, you know, the city becomes a part of you.  There is no place like it, it’s the most amazing, intense, stressful, exciting place.  Manhattanites defiantly have a love/hate affair with the city.  There are days when it eats you up and spits you out and you just want to scream and have to get away….but being gone for to long you are never so happy to return.   Eventually most people leave the city in pursuit of a easier place to raise kids and live with more space and perhaps a yard.   In May of 2012 we left the city to take on a new slower, more peaceful existence.   After leaving, we drove across country for 4 months, exploring new possibilities for “home”.

We landed in Traverse City Michigan, which is a beautiful little gem at the upper part of the state.  Life is good, it’s relaxing and peaceful.  Everyone is happy and knows each other.  We bought a house and are excited to be renovating it to make it our own and look forward to what the future holds.  It’s a nice way to live but I can’t help that I often find myself day dreaming about walking down Bowery, taking in the free street entertainment and the great people watching. We are making Michigan our home but once a New Yorker, always a New Yorker…Michigan is a great new home, but NYC has my heart and will always be my home away from home.
